God’s rest isn’t a passive state of inactivity! It’s a season of enjoying the rewards of labour having created a self-sustaining product or system. Heb4:10 puts it this way: For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labours, just as God did after creating the world. This refers to the reproductive circle of life and self-cleaning systems of the earth. After God created all in the beginning, he hasn’t created anything else!
The call to enter into God’s kind of rest, is a call to unlock our creative power. The ability to create and package a much required solution to man’s evolving challenges can launch an individual into financial rest. When a leader creates effective systems and structures, the organisation he/she leads does not require leadership presence to run efficiently. If set procedures in place and followed, the creative leader can go on a holiday! He enters into this kind of rest because of he possesses creative abilities. God’s rest can be described as the place of absolute trust in God. Resting by faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ grants us access to receive what God’s grace has freely made available. Our healing, prosperity and security has already been carefully thought out by the ever-lasting father!
Sometimes life can become overwhelming and difficult to navigate. In these times, it may be difficult to trust but Jesus says something quite inspiring in Matt 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Here Jesus talks to the weary and burdened about learning from him, about taking on a different yoke, lighter and easier… that yoke is the word of Faith, the word of God!
Take it on, it will give you rest.
